How best to promote yourself or your business online is a hot topic in
discussion forums and in
e-zines across the web.
The options are multiplying all the time - pay-per-click ad banners, banner
exchanges, 'link farms'... many options are expensive and of dubious value. As with off-line advertising, it pays to do some research on what methods are most likely to work for you.
One thing is for certain, though: as the owner of a website, you need to
exploit the promotional potential of
search engines.
Together with
directories such as Yahoo, search engines are the means by which
users of the web most often find websites that are about what interests
them. But just because you have a website advertising your custard-making
business doesn't mean that someone looking for what you offer will
automatically find you if they type 'custard' into, say, Google.
